What is your hourly rate for legal writing services?

I charge $150/hour for legal research and writing services. I charge $200/hour for projects with a one-week turnover. 

Do you charge for legal research tools?

No. My hourly rate includes any legal research tools that I use. Legal research tools are imperative to the success of my work, and I never compromise on using the best platforms to complete my legal writing projects.  

What are the ethical implications of attorneys using legal writing services?

The American Bar Association has found that it is ethical for attorneys to use legal writing services. You can read more about that here.

You live in a foreign country; how will we stay in contact?

Keeping in touch with me is as easy as keeping in touch with any other freelance attorney or legal writing service. I use a variety of contact tools — Zoom, Skype, Telegram, WhatsApp, etc — to keep in touch with the clients for whom I am completing legal research and writing projects.

How will the time difference affect your ability to meet legal research and writing service deadlines?

Depending on where you are in the US, I am six to ten hours ahead of you. Most clients find this time difference incredibly helpful because I have a business day’s lead time to complete your legal research and writing projects!  

What project management and communications tools do you use?

I prefer to use Dropbox as a file-sharing and file-management system in combination with a shared Google calendar to track assignment due dates and schedule phone calls.

What duties do you have to my client?

My duty is to the attorney.  While I am happy to keep track of filing dates for my legal writing projects (as they are provided to me) it is ultimately the attorney’s responsibility to ensure that the client’s case is going according to plan, including adhering to court rules regarding the timely filing of any work Legalinguist is contracted to perform.
